While we were attending the Formula 1 Belgian Grand Prix, we of course decided to stay at the circuit on Saturday after qualifying to watch the F3000 race, especially since it was the final race of the season and the championship was up for grabs.

We watched the opening laps of the race at Stavelot and then moved on towards the challenging Blanchimont kink. The cars were looking pretty spectacular there. The race was dominated by Fernando Alonso and Marc Goossens followed him to score a one-two finish for the Astromega team. Bruno Junqueira took the championship despite dropping back because of some engine related problems, because the title rival Nicolas Minassian was able to finish only third.
