Ex. double F1 World Champion Mika Häkkinen returned to victory lane today at Ahvenisto circuit in Hämeenlinna. Häkkinen, now retired from competitive racing, took part in a Porsche Carrera Cup Scandinavia championship round, which visited the Finnish Super 2000 Race series at Ahvenisto. Starting from third on the grid Häkkinen emerged at front into the first turn and never looked back. Through out the race he drove faster laps than the opposition. Finland's BelCar driver Markus Palttala took second place having started from pole. Tomorrow on Sunday is race number two.
Another ex F1 driver, Mika Salo, also starred at Ahvenisto. Salo drives an Audi A4 in the series main class Super 2000. Salo only had a few days of testing of Audi, but managed to post a lap time in qualifying which was about 1.2 seconds faster and second placed Martti Huttunen. So, Salo starts tomorrow for his first tintop race from the pole position.
