Finnish racing season begins this weekend at the Alastaro circuit where the first round of Super 2000 Race series will be held. The main category, Super 2000 (the same as WTCC cars), will have a new champion this season as multiple Finnish champion Olli Haapalainen will not return to defend his title from last year, but opts instead to drive in the Italian touring car series. In the Formula Fords there are a number of competitors taking part from Finland and as well as from other nordic countries as some of the races are also part of the new FIA NEZ (North European Zone) series. Around 30 cars are expected to take part to the races, which probably is the biggest attendance for any Formula Ford series in the world.
