The legendary Finnish Eläintarha Race (Eläintarhan ajot in Finnish) near the
centre of Helsinki was "revived" this weekend in a form of sprint event called
Eltsu Sprint 2002. The original race, first run exactly 70 years ago, was a pure racing
event on a street circuit with different kinds of cars including even formula cars and
motorcycles. The event was however stopped after 1963. During its time the event was
very popular and more or less started the motor racing in Finland.
Racing Images was of course present at Eltsu Sprint. Pictures and report as well as
some more historics of the original event will be available on the coming week.
