Season's second round of the Finnish Sport 2000 Tour took place at Motopark at Virtasalmi
during the weekend. In Sport 2000 there was a new name at front. Pekka Pohjanperä
claimed pole on Saturday and took victory on the first race in Sunday. Victors from the first event
Pasi Lähteenmäki and Olli Haapalainen finished second and third. In the second
race it was Estonian visiting driver Aivis Ohtla who claimed the win. Haapalainen took
second and Pohjanperä third. Lähteenmäki had to retire after tangling with
Ohtla. Haapalainen now leads the standings.
In Formula 3 it was the same as at the first meeting: The Russian Lukoil Team of Italian
Andrea Belicchi and team-mate Alexey Pavlovskiy again left others on bay. Jaakko Ruotsalainen
and Arto Taimi took third places in first and second start. Noticable was also again musician Sipe Santapukki. He took fifth and fourth places respectively and therefore continued his good form. In Formula
Ford as Miikka Honkanen also continued his winning form taking the top spot on both starts. In
Honda Challenge Niko and Janel Nurminen climbed on the top step of the podium.
Unfortunately, Racing Images wasn't present at Motopark. However, we are going to attend
more events of the tour this summer. We are also planning to introduce some changes to
our site in near future which especially involve Finnish national events. Meanwhile please
